Job Description:

Kepak McIntosh Donald are a globally recognised brand and the largest red meat producer in Scotland; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance.

We are now recruiting for Forklift and Packing Operative to join or team at McIntosh Donald, Portlethen.

Job Purpose

Responsible for safe transportation of by products and other items around the Boning Hall department and site while undertaking packing responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading various materials and by products from a variety of vehicles/locations, stacking in assigned places.
  • Moving pallet-packed materials around the site or storage facility.
  • Checking loads are secure.
  • Identifying damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies.
  • Performing equipment checks and basic maintenance.
  • Following written instructions and keeping records.
  • Adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Completing physical tasks quickly and accurately.

Packing Operative Duties

  • Ability to identify individual vacuum-packed cuts of meat and placing them in to specified containers/boxes.
  • Recognition of different cuts of meat that legally must be weighed and labelled correctly.
  • Placing trays/boxes on correct pallets to customer specification.
  • Recognising and placing selected cuts of meat into correct customer specified bags at variable line speeds.
  • Selection of beef quarters by date and category that are pushed along rails to input scale.
  • Straightening prepack bags that are already on production line.
  • Completing assigned tasks in a timely manner to meet daily targets.
  • Perform all prestart, hygiene and safety checks as instructed.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a high-volume meat processing factory highly beneficial
  • Able to work in chilled environment
  • Manual handling ability and awareness
  • B1 Counterbalance Forklift Licence
  • Able to communicate well in English in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all levels
  • Flexibility to meet daily production targets
  • Ability to operate and control equipment
  • Consistent approach and strong work ethic
  • Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team
  • Adaptable to change and production demands
  • 31 days annual leave per year (after probation).
