Triangle Recruitment are working with a leading supplier of Mechanical Handling Equipment, who are looking to expand further into the forklift truck (FLT) market. As a result we are looking for a driven, technically skilled Forklift Truck Sales Engineer to lead this exciting growth. This role combines sales leadership with hands-on technical expertise — perfect for someone who thrives in both commercial and operational environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Forklift Truck Sales & Deliver Results
- Take full ownership of forklift truck sales across the UK, developing and executing a strategy to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Drive customer engagement and conversion through direct sales and dealer partnerships.
Conduct UK Market Research & Intelligence
- Monitor and analyse the UK forklift truck market, including current trends, total industry volume (TIV), competitor activity, and customer demand.
- Prepare regular market intelligence reports and suggest data-driven strategic actions.
Dealer Development
- Identify, recruit, and support new dealers across the UK to grow the companies presence and customer reach.
- Provide ongoing training and product support to the dealer network to ensure brand consistency and performance.
Key Account (KA) Sales
- Manage relationships with key national and regional accounts, from prospecting through to closing and after-sales support.
- Develop tailored solutions for major clients, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnership.
Product Planning & Factory Collaboration
- Work closely with the companies forklift manufacturing division to ensure the right products are introduced into the UK market.
- Provide regular feedback from the field to inform product improvements and launch plans.
Repair & Maintenance – Hands-On Technical Involvement
- In the early phase of department development, you will be directly responsible for carrying out on-site and workshop-based repair and maintenance of the supplied forklift trucks.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults, and carry out effective solutions to minimise downtime.
- Provide technical support to customers and dealers, helping to build trust in the companies after-sales service.
- Play a key role in shaping the future of the service and support team as it grows.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in B2B industrial equipment sales (preferably forklift trucks or heavy machinery).
- Strong technical experience in servicing and maintaining forklift trucks or similar machinery.
- Strong understanding of UK material handling/logistics markets.
- Commercially astute, with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Willingness to travel across the UK.
