Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a motivated Fork Lift Truck Operator for our Leeds sheet plant. You will operate the forklift on shift, following strict health and safety rules and quality standards.

Training will be provided for successful applicants who demonstrate a proactive, team-oriented approach. The role requires a current counterbalance licence, good organisation, and the ability to work to deadlines in a busy production environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a busy production environment is preferred.
  • Current Counterbalance Fork Lift Truck licence is essential.
  • Ability to follow health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Fork Lift Truck following site procedures and HSE standards.
  • Meet production targets while maintaining high safety and quality.
  • Report any health, safety or quality issues promptly.

The Role

We have a vacancy for a Fork Lift Truck Operator within our Leeds Sheet Plant. To be successful you will need to be highly motivated, focused and driven, demonstrating a positive can do and safe attitude, together with excellent self-organisation and teamwork skills. We are looking for applicants who are great communicators and able to work as part of a team to meet operational targets in line with the site's Health & Safety culture. Previous experience within a busy production site is preferred, but full training on all processes will be provided to successful candidates that demonstrate a keen interest to be part of the team.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Shift hours : Monday - Thursday 9.30 am - 6.00 pm / Friday 8.00 am - 3.00 pm
  • Understand and work to high Health & Safety standards, including reporting any H&S issues.
  • Complying with Quality and Hygiene specifications and requirements.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Current Counterbalance Fork Lift Truck licence is essential
  • Ability to follow health & safety policies and procedures.
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Good team player ethos - able to work as part of a team and on their own.
  • Self-motivation and good organisation skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
