Job summary

Supplytrain CIC is recruiting for a Level 3 Forest Craftsperson apprenticeship in Brigg. You will work outdoors on Scawby Estate, learning practical forestry skills as part of a small team. Driving licence is essential and no prior forestry experience is required.

The role offers hands-on learning with support from an experienced estate team, and on-the-job training toward a recognised qualification with mentoring and pension eligibility.

Qualifications

• Motivated, practical and willing to learn for a hands-on forestry role.
• Interest in forestry, woodland, land management or outdoor work.
• Valid driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with felling and processing timber.
• Process firewood and woodchip.
• Help deliver firewood and woodchip.
• Vegetation management including strimming and pruning.
• Fencing and general estate maintenance.
• Site clearance and keeping woodland areas tidy.
• Track maintenance and upkeep.
• Support tree inspections and forest inventory work.
• Learn to measure and assess woodland and trees.
• Use tools and machinery safely and responsibly.
• Work as part of a small team across the estate.
• Gain experience across forestry, woodfuel production and estate maintenance.

Job Description

• Scawby Estate is a working rural estate with a diverse mix of types of woodland and farmland. It is a hands‑on environment where the team plays an important role in looking after the estate and its natural surroundings, while supporting its wider land management activities.
• They’re looking for a motivated Forestry Operative to join the team and build a career in forestry and estate management. This is an opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues, gain valuable experience in a working estate environment and develop a broad understanding of how woodland and wider landscapes are managed.
• Previous forestry experience isn’t essential - they're looking for someone with the enthusiasm and attitude to learn, develop and become part of the team.
• What you'll do
• Working alongside the estate team, you’ll gain experience in a wide variety of practical forestry and woodland management tasks, including:
• - Assisting with the felling and processing of timber
• - Processing firewood and woodchip
• - Helping with the delivery of firewood and woodchip
• - Vegetation management, including strimming and pruning
• - Fencing and general estate maintenance
• - Site clearance and keeping woodland areas tidy and well managed
• - Track maintenance and upkeep

• - Using tools, machinery and equipment safely and responsibly

• - No two days are likely to be exactly the same, giving you the chance to build experience across productive forestry, woodfuel production, woodland management and wider estate maintenance.

• You don’t need previous forestry experience to apply. What matters most is that you’re motivated, practical and willing to learn.
