Job summary

Veritas Education are recruiting a Forest School Leader for an exciting full-time role in a thriving outdoor nursery setting in Leeds. You will plan and deliver creative Forest School sessions, lead weekly outdoor activities, and support children’s development through nature-based experiences.

You will hold Level 3 Forest School and Level 3 Early Years qualifications, have experience delivering outdoor learning, and bring excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative Forest School sessions and outdoor learning experiences.
  • Set up and lead weekly activities that inspire curiosity, confidence, and independence.
  • Work with small groups of children, supporting learning through nature-based experiences.
  • Encourage children to explore, investigate, and take appropriate risks in a safe environment.
  • Promote children's development through outdoor play.
  • Collaborate with the wider nursery team to embed outdoor learning into the curriculum.
  • Ensure activities are carried out safely and in line with safeguarding procedures.

Are you an experienced Forest School Leader with a passion for outdoor learning, child-led exploration, and inspiring children through nature?

We're seeking a dedicated Forest School Leader to join a thriving outdoor nursery setting, where the natural environment is at the heart of children's learning and development. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about creating meaningful outdoor experiences and helping children develop confidence, resilience, independence, and a lifelong love of nature.

This unique setting believes that some of the most valuable learning happens outdoors. From woodland adventures and nature-based crafts to risk-taking and problem-solving activities, you'll play a key role in delivering engaging experiences that encourage children to learn through exploration and discovery.

The Role
  • Plan and deliver creative Forest School sessions and outdoor learning experiences
  • Set up and lead weekly activities that inspire curiosity, confidence, and independence
  • Work with small groups of children, supporting their learning and development through nature-based experiences
  • Encourage children to explore, investigate, and take appropriate risks in a safe environment
  • Promote children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development through outdoor play
  • Collaborate with the wider nursery team to embed outdoor learning into the curriculum
  • Ensure all activities are carried out safely and in line with safeguarding and risk assessment procedures
What We're Looking For
  • Level 3 Forest School Qualification (Essential)
  • Level 3 Early Years Qualification (Essential)
  • Experience delivering Forest School sessions and outdoor learning activities
  • A genuine passion for nature-based education and child-led learning
  • Strong knowledge of child development and the EYFS framework
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A creative, enthusiastic, and hands-on approach
