Job summary

South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is seeking a Clinical/Forensic Psychologist to join the Forensic Outreach Service in a new Step-Down Service, opening Jan 2027. The role involves expert assessment, formulation and delivery of evidence-based interventions within a MDT, with leadership to the VCS partner.

Part-time, permanent contract at Band 8a. Candidates must have Doctorate level training in clinical/forensic psychology and HCPC registration.

Qualifications

• Well-developed ability to communicate complex information both in writing and orally to clients, families and professionals.
• High standard of report writing for NHS and agency communications.
• Advanced psychological assessment, formulation and intervention skills in secure settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychological assessments using complex data and diverse methods.
• Formulate and implement evidence-based treatment plans for mental health and offending behaviour.
• Deliver and adapt psychological interventions for individuals, carers and groups, adjusting models as needed.
• Evaluate treatment options considering complex historical and developmental factors.
• Maintain autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, treatment and discharge.
• Provide psychology leadership and consultation to the VCS provider and MDT.
