Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a consultant in forensic psychiatry for a 12‑month post covering Wells Road Centre inpatients and community forensic patients. The role includes responsibility for up to 14 inpatients and 8 community patients, with flexible working discussed.

Applicants should have GMC specialist registration in forensic psychiatry (or be within six months of CCT), plus Approved Clinician status and Section 12(2) approval. Full GMC registration is required.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
• MRCPsych or equivalent.
• Eligibility for the Specialist Register or CCT in Forensic Psychiatry, or General Adult Psychiatry with appropriate forensic experience.

Responsibilities

• Hold consultant responsibility for up to 14 inpatients and 8 community patients, many under Mental Health Act provisions.
• Take specific consultant responsibility predominantly for patients across Nottinghamshire.
• Provide evidence-based care to patients in the community and in inpatient settings.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective treatment.
• Take part in service development and academic programmes.
• Uphold professional standards and contribute to the efficient running of services.
