Job summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an Assistant Psychologist to work within the inpatient Adult Forensic Mental Health Service at the Riverside Centre. We seek enthusiastic psychology graduates to support individuals with complex needs in secure services and contribute to assessment, interventions and research activities.

You will join a large psychology team, receive supervision, and work within a multidisciplinary setting to develop formulation and deliver

Qualifications

• First or upper second-class honours in Psychology accredited by the BPS, or a lower second with MSc.
• Postgraduate training in psychology, mental health practice, and/or research design is desirable.
• Experience in forensic settings or with forensic service users.

Responsibilities

• Undertake direct work with service users to facilitate understanding of needs and risks.
• Support psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of forensic inpatients (individual or group).
• Use structured professional judgement tools to assess risk.
• Attend MDT meetings to inform psychological formulations for the team.
• Contribute to progress notes, letters, reports, risk assessments and management plans.
• Work with potentially distressing material related to histories and offending behaviour.
