Job summary

Cellmark Forensic Services in Abingdon is seeking a Laboratory Technician to handle and examine forensic exhibits for biological and trace evidence, in a role that requires strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practice and ISO standards.

You will perform presumptive tests, assist in casework administration, prepare reagents, and work under supervision to ensure accuracy, safety, and thorough record keeping. Occasional scene attendance may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of A Levels, preferably a degree in a scientific or analytical discipline.
• Laboratory experience is advantageous.
• Attention to detail is essential.
• Familiar with Good Laboratory Practice and ISO standards.
• Experience using case management databases.

Responsibilities

• Handle and examine forensic exhibits for biological and trace evidence.
• Perform presumptive tests on forensic exhibits following SOPs.
• Conduct biological and chemical testing of forensic exhibits.
• Work with Reporting Scientists on cases.
• Assist with casework administration.
• Prepare reagents and consumables.
• Maintain quality, safety, and record-keeping standards.
• Attend scenes of crime if required.
