Job description

Are you a Nurse or Paramedic looking for a new direction but not ready to leave your current role? Consider our bank opportunities.

You will work alongside the Police in custody suites, caring for detainees, and have a career within the criminal justice system helping some of the most vulnerable people in society.

We require Registered (Adult) Nurses / RGNs or Paramedics with 2 years' post-qualification experience, who want to deliver gold-standard care and be part of a team with a shared vision and passion for developing clinical, forensic, and wider skills.

You must have the flexibility to work not only in your base custody suite but also across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area.

What can you expect to earn?
  • £20.50 per hour for 1-2 shifts
  • £22.50 per hour for 3-5 shifts
  • £24.50 per hour for 6+ shifts
Experience - Essential
  • RN, RGN, or RMN with dual registration: 2 years post-qualification - Band 5 minimum
  • Paramedic: 2 years post-qualification
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a patient-facing role within relevant fields such as General Practice, A&E, Emergency Medicine, acute medicine, Walk-in Centres, Substance Misuse Services, Prison Healthcare, or Ambulance Service
Licence/Certification
  • HCPC/NMC (required)
  • Driving Licence (required)
  • Must be a UK resident for 3 years or more, with no gaps out of the country exceeding 3 months
  • All candidates will be subject to Police Vetting
What does the role involve?

The custody suites can be an energetic place to work, with no two shifts the same. While detained, we provide individuals with all their physical, mental healthcare, and wellbeing needs, as well as gather forensic samples needed by the police to aid investigations. You will assess whether people are fit to be detained or released, administer medications when needed, and work with local Liaison and Diversion teams to address root causes of issues that can prevent future crime. No previous forensic experience is required as we will provide training.
