Pertemps is offering a one-year placement within a Forensic Accounting team based in Leeds. This role is ideal for a motivated university student currently studying towards a relevant degree in Accounting and Finance.
The placement provides valuable, hands-on experience in Forensic Accounting, offering insight into the profession and the chance to develop practical, career-ready skills.
As part of the team, you'll support a wide range of cases, including:
- Investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, and bribery
- Commercial disputes, such as shareholder disagreements
- Criminal cases, acting for either the prosecution or defence
- Matrimonial cases requiring business valuations during divorce proceedings
- Personal injury claims and loss of earnings assessments
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of proposals for new business opportunities
- Reviewing case instructions to understand client requirements
- Supporting the client onboarding process, including drafting engagement letters, scoping documents, and completing internal compliance checks
- Attending fact-finding meetings to gather information
- Reviewing case files, including pleadings, expert reports, and medical records
- Conducting research using public sources to summarise information on relevant businesses
- Analysing financial documents, including statements, bank records, and invoices
- Researching industries to provide context for case work
- Converting and analysing bank statements
- Supporting internal case management, including record-keeping, billing, and file organisation
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to gain first-hand experience in forensic accounting.
Requirements:
- A strong academic record with a minimum of two A's and a B at A-level (or equivalent, excluding general studies)
- Currently studying for a relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Successful completion of the placement may lead to an opportunity to join the company's ACA Graduate Training Scheme, subject to achieving a 2:1 or higher.
