Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking an experienced Foreman to lead Thames Water projects across multiple sites in the region. You will manage daily site works, coordinate labour and materials, and ensure RAMS and permits are in place before activities begin.

The role requires strong leadership, safety focus and effective liaison with engineers and subcontractors. The successful candidate will read design drawings, deliver toolbox talks, monitor subcontractor performance and maintain site diaries to ensure

  • Experience delivering construction works in line with ITPs, safety requirements and quality standards.
  • Strong leadership in a site environment with hands-on management.
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings and coordinate multiple teams.

Responsibilities

Foreman - Thames Water team

London (with travel across multiple sites/projects in the region)

Galliford Try is seeking an experienced and driven Foreman to support our Thames Water team, ensuring that all site works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. If you’re a hands-on leader with a passion for excellence in water infrastructure projects, we’d love to hear from you.

As a Foreman, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management and coordination of site-based construction activities. You'll help ensure our projects run smoothly, meet programme deadlines, and are delivered with safety and quality at the forefront.

What you'll be doing:
  • Leading and managing daily site-based construction works.
  • Coordinating labour, plant, and materials to meet programme and financial targets.
  • Ensuring both temporary and permanent works are completed in line with design requirements.
  • Working closely with site engineers on planning and programming activities.
  • Participating in discipline and coordination meetings to support smooth project delivery.
  • Ensuring RAMS and Permit to Work systems are in place prior to works commencing.
  • Communicating effectively with site teams and subcontractors.
  • Delivering site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings.
  • Monitoring subcontractor performance, ensuring safety, quality, and programme adherence.
  • Checking compliance with subcontractor quality check sheets.
  • Maintaining and updating accurate site diaries.
About You:

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Strong communication and coordination skills with both internal teams and subcontractors.
  • Experience delivering construction works in line with ITPs, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Confidence delivering safety briefings and toolbox talks.
  • The ability to read and interpret design drawings.
  • Proven leadership within a site environment.
  • Strong customer liaison abilities.
  • A solid understanding of personal Health & Safety responsibilities.

Essential:
  • Relevant experience in water infrastructure projects.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • Appropriate CSCS card.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Temporary Works Supervisor qualification.
  • First Aid certification (desirable).
Desirable:
  • A qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • NRSWA Supervisor accreditation.
