Lonely Planet is looking for a Foreign Rights Manager

This role involves managing designated Lonely Planet guidebook licensees and selling translation rights for gift books and children’s books in specified territories through co-editions and licensing deals. You will collaborate with the Head of Foreign Rights to develop and implement strategies to grow Lonely Planet’s print business in your territories. The ideal candidate is an experienced rights professional with strong business development and negotiating skills, capable of managing multiple accounts and territories.

What You’ll Do:
Guidebook partners
  • Manage day-to-day guidebook publishing partners, answer editorial queries, approve publishing programmes, and oversee print quality of translated editions.
  • Liaise with Production to ensure smooth delivery of files and resolve production issues.
  • Review and approve marketing plans and assets according to brand guidelines.
  • Keep partners informed about company, brand, publishing, marketing, and digital strategies.
  • Develop growth strategies with partners and expand their publishing programmes.
  • Set and meet budgets for each partner.
Gift/children’s books
  • Achieve co-edition and licensing budgets for your territories.
  • Contribute to the acquisition process and develop titles suitable for co-edition sales.
  • Manage submissions and distribute sales materials.
  • Handle sales responsibilities from negotiating terms to liaising with Production for timely delivery of high-standard co-editions.
  • Identify opportunities to expand customer base and maximize revenues.
