Job summary

Wells Cathedral School seeks a native French Foreign Languages Assistant to work approximately 8 hours per week, exclusively with Year 12 and Year 13 pupils, focusing on their preparation for the Speaking examination with the AQA exam board and grammatical and cultural understanding of the language.

The FLA would also promote languages across the school, and assist with the administration and maintenance of displays around the languages area.

Job description

Foreign Language Assistant (French)

16 hours 25 minutes over a two week period

Term Time plus 1 week for INSET (pro-rata)

Wells Cathedral School seeks a native French Foreign Languages Assistant to work approximately 8 hours per week, and assist exclusively with our Year 12 and Year 13 pupils, focusing on their preparation for the Speaking examination with the AQA exam board and grammatical and cultural understanding of the language. The FLA would also promote languages across the school, and assist with the administration and maintenance of displays around the languages area.

The successful candidate will work exclusively with our A-Level pupils, ensuring that they receive one hour of contact time each week. The assistant’s specific skills and qualities will enable them to encourage pupils to express themselves orally, to introduce a fun dimension to learning and to discuss socio-cultural topics of interest to children and teenagers, in line with the exam board’s specifications. The main purpose of the FLA role is to support pupils’ preparation for the speaking examinations at A-Level.
