Forage Literary is seeking an assistant scout to join the team

We are a growing and dynamic literary scouting agency, focusing on sourcing books, podcasts and articles for film and television adaptation.

This is a full-time position and is not currently office-based. The nature of the role will require a frequent presence in London as it will involve building an information network of editors and agents across the publishing and film/TV industries by attending meetings, book launches, parties, and book fairs. It will also involve reading manuscripts and writing reports, as well as assisting the office coordinator with all back-end tasks including database entry, checking rights, tracking books, and research.

The candidate will ideally have some previous experience of working in publishing. They will have their finger on the pulse of publishing trends, wide-ranging reading tastes, and a demonstrable passion for film and television. They should be a quick and decisive reader with strong writing skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to write reports under time pressure. A second language is preferred, but not essential.

The salary is £25,000 p/a.

We encourage people of all backgrounds, races, genders and abilities to apply.

The deadline for applications is Friday 22nd October. Please send your CV and cover letter to Alexandra Chaney (alexandra@forageliterary.com). In your application, please also tell us about a book you think would make a brilliant film or TV series, and write a short paragraph explaining why. Successful applicants will also be asked to complete a sample reader’s report.

Forage Literary is just shy of two years old and scouts for several award-winning production companies and studios in the UK and Scandinavia.
