Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a highly organised and enthusiastic Food Technology Technician to support a dynamic Food Technology department in a Secondary school. This full-time role involves assisting students in cooking practicals, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and preparing materials for lessons. The ideal candidate will possess a Food Hygiene certificate and have experience in Food Technology at KS3 and KS4. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the education of young people in a supportive and innovative setting, with the potential for ongoing work until July.

Job description

Rotherwood Education are looking to recruit a highly organised, flexible and enthusiastic Food Technology Technician to assist a forward-thinking Food Technology department in a Secondary school in the Haslingden area.


This position is set to start ASAP, and it is full-time and ongoing with the potential to extend until July.


The successful Food Technology Technician will:

  1. Assist students in cooking practicals, assist with washing up, prepping ingredients for the lessons and maintaining food safety and cleanliness within Food technology classrooms.
  2. Have their Food Hygiene certificate and be able to follow Policies and Procedures to ensure safety and compliance within the department and be able to prepare materials for the workshop.
  3. Ideally have previous experience in supporting Food Technology departments to KS3 and 4.
  4. Provide details of last 2 latest references, covering the last 5 years' work history.
  5. Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration.
  6. Be committed to the safeguarding of children and young people.
  7. Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy several checks.
