Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Food Technology Teacher to join a successful Design & Technology Department.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and inspiring Food Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, supporting students to develop vital practical cookery skills, nutritional knowledge and an understanding of food science and safety. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Food Technology Teacher:

Teach Food Technology to KS3/KS4.

Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons that cater for a range of abilities.

Develop and adapt resources to inspire creativity and independent learning.

Ensure high standards of food hygiene, health and safety are maintained at all times.

Monitor, assess, record and report on students’ progress and attainment.

Contribute to the wider life of the department and school, including extracurricular activities, clubs or competitions.

Manage and organise practical sessions, ingredients and equipment effectively.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum development and departmental priorities.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

Specialism in Food Technology, Catering, or related subject area.

Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level.

Strong subject knowledge and excellent practical cookery skills.

A genuine passion for inspiring students in food preparation and nutrition.

Excellent classroom management and organisational skills as a Food Technology Teacher.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one).
