Food Technology Teacher
Location: Bishop’s Stortford
Salary: £120 – £230 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term; Full-time / Part-time

Are you a creative and enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher with a passion for inspiring the next generation of chefs, nutritionists, and food scientists?

GSL Education are seeking an engaging and dedicated Food Technology Teacher (FT Teacher) to work in a supportive secondary school in Bishop’s Stortford, starting immediately.

About the role:

This role is ideal for someone who can combine practical skills with theoretical knowledge of Food Technology, and who enjoys delivering hands-on, engaging lessons that develop students’ confidence in the kitchen and understanding of healthy living.

  • Teach Food Technology to Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • Deliver practical and theory-based lessons on cooking, nutrition, food safety, and sustainability.
  • Manage and maintain a safe and organised food preparation area.
  • Support students in developing essential life skills through practical learning.
  • Prepare students for assessments and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Encourage creativity, independence, and enthusiasm for food and wellbeing.

Skills & Requirements for Food Technology Teacher:

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching Food Technology in secondary schools.
  • Strong classroom management and effective organisational skills.
  • A clear understanding of food hygiene, health and safety, and allergy awareness.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
