Job summary

Found Food & Drink in London is seeking a Food Technologist to join its Technical team. The role supports products manufactured across Asia and supplied into major UK and European retailers, reporting to the Technical Manager and connecting UK business with international manufacturing, retail customers and NPD.

The role focuses on product quality, customer complaints, finished product specs, pack copy, retailer requirements and data analysis, with opportunities to contribute to new product

Qualifications

• Experience as a Food Technologist, QA Technologist or Technical Coordinator in food manufacturing.
• Experience writing finished product specifications on major UK retailer portals is essential.
• Good understanding of UK retailer technical standards and BRCGS Food Safety.
• Knowledge of allergens, labelling and finished product requirements.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret quality data.

Responsibilities

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday | Site-based | London

A growing international food business is looking to appoint a Food Technologist to join its Technical team in London.

This is a varied role supporting products manufactured across Asia and supplied into major UK and European retailers. Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, you will act as an important technical link between the UK business, international manufacturing teams, retail customers and the wider NPD and Commercial functions.

With a strong focus on product quality, customer complaints, finished product specifications, technical documentation, pack copy, retailer requirements and data analysis, you'll have the opportunity to develop broad technical experience while also supporting new product launches and customer projects.

This would suit an organised and commercially aware Food Technologist, QA Technologist or Technical Coordinator who enjoys the detail of Technical but also wants plenty of interaction with customers, NPD and international manufacturing teams.

What You'll Be Doing

• Support the Technical Manager in maintaining the safety, legality, quality and integrity of finished products
• Work closely with manufacturing and technical teams across Asia to ensure products meet agreed customer and retailer standards
• Investigate product quality issues and customer complaints, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Analyse complaint and quality data to identify trends, recurring issues and areas for improvement
• Write and complete finished product specifications from start to finish on major UK retailer portals, ensuring all technical information is accurate and completed within required timelines
• Review technical documentation, artwork and pack copy, including allergens, nutritional information, claims and cooking instructions
• Support the NPD team with retailer submission forms and the technical information required to present new products to customers
• Support the day-to-day technical requirements of major UK retailers and build your knowledge of individual retailer standards and Codes of Practice
• Liaise with customer technical teams and external technical partners, responding to queries and supporting product investigations
• Work closely with NPD and Technical colleagues to support new product launches, product changes and critical paths
• Track technical actions, approvals and outstanding information across multiple projects, highlighting potential risks or delays early
• Maintain accurate technical trackers, databases and records while supporting improvements to reporting and data visibility

Your Background

• Experience as a Food Technologist, QA Technologist, Technical Coordinator or within a similar food technical role
• Experience working with food manufacturers supplying major UK grocery retailers and/or discounters
• Previous experience writing and completing finished product specifications from start to finish on major UK retailer portals – this is essential
• Good understanding of BRCGS Food Safety and UK retailer technical standards
• Knowledge of UK food legislation, allergens, labelling and finished product requirements
• Experience reviewing artwork, pack copy and other technical documentation
• Understanding of customer complaint investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Strong analytical skills with confidence interpreting quality and complaint data
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Confident communicating with customers, external partners and international manufacturing teams
• Strong Excel skills; experience with Power BI would be advantageous but isn't essential
