Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Food Technician to work across secondary schools in Lincolnshire, including Scunthorpe, on daily supply and long-term placements.

You will support practical Food Technology lessons, prepare ingredients and equipment, and help maintain safe, hygienic kitchen environments for KS3–KS4 students.

The role is ideal for someone with a hands-on background in Food Technology or catering who values reliable, flexible school-based work.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in Food Technology, Catering or related industry.
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety.
• Ability to prepare ingredients and equipment for lessons.
• DBS check (Enhanced) and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching staff with preparation and delivery of practical lessons.
• Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for lessons.
• Ensure kitchens and areas are clean, safe, and well organised.
• Support students in safe use of kitchen equipment.
• Assist with practical demonstrations and activities across KS3 and KS4.
• Follow food hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain stock levels of ingredients and equipment.
• Report equipment or safety concerns to staff.

As a Food Technician on supply, you will;

• Supporting teaching staff with the preparation and delivery of practical Food Technology lessons


• Preparing ingredients, equipment and resources for practical lessons


• Ensuring food technology classrooms, kitchens and practical areas are clean, safe and well organised


• Supporting students with the safe and appropriate use of kitchen equipment and utensils


• Assisting with practical demonstrations and food preparation activities across KS3 and KS4


• Ensuring appropriate food hygiene, health and safety procedures are followed at all times


• Supporting teachers and students with practical cooking and food preparation activities


• Managing and maintaining stock levels of ingredients, equipment and resources


• Checking and storing food supplies appropriately, including monitoring use-by dates


• Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and practical work areas


• Reporting any equipment, maintenance, food hygiene or health and safety concerns to the appropriate member of staff

To join us and be successful as a Food Technician, you will need to:

• Have relevant practical experience within Food Technology, Catering, Hospitality, Food Preparation or a related industry


• Have a good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety procedures


• Be confident using a range of kitchen equipment and utensils


• Have good organisational skills and attention to detail


• Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) - or willing to obtain one


• Professional reference checks


• CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible


• Legal right to work in the UK
