Job summary

Liverpool-based secondary school is seeking a passionate Food Tech Teacher to join its Design & Technology department. This full-time, permanent role delivers hands-on Food Preparation & Nutrition lessons for KS3 and GCSE, inspiring practical skills, nutrition awareness, and food safety knowledge.

You will work in well-equipped food rooms with technician support, benefit from structured mentoring for ECTs, and access ongoing CPD.

Qualifications

Relevant degree in Food Technology, Home Economics, Nutrition, or Design & Technology alongside QTS or PGCE.
Experience teaching KS3 and GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition is desirable.
Open to both ECTs and experienced teachers in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver practical and theoretical lessons covering culinary techniques, food hygiene, nutrition, and food science across KS3 and GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition.
Maintain outstanding health, safety, and hygiene standards within the food room, conducting risk assessments and managing dietary requirements/allergies.
Monitor practical skill development, guide students through GCSE NEAs, and prepare pupils for written exams.
Collaborate with a team and technician support to create a safe, engaging learning environment.
