Vision for Education Ltd is recruiting a Food Tech Instructor for a Kingsbury-based inclusive school in North West London. The role is part-time, Wednesdays to Fridays, starting ASAP, and involves delivering practical Food Technology sessions for pupils with SEND.

You will plan engaging activities focusing on food preparation, cooking, hygiene and nutrition, while supporting independence and life skills development across 5–19 year olds.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering practical food or cooking lessons.
• Food Safety Level 2 or 3 compliance.
• Strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety.
• Experience in SEND or SEMH settings preferred.
• Vocational qualifications such as OCR, ASDAN or BTEC are advantageous.
• Desirable Level 3 Education & Training qualification.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, practical Food Tech sessions.
• Support pupils aged 5-19 with SEND to develop life and independence skills.
• Help pupils with food preparation, cooking, hygiene and nutrition.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and the Post-16 team to tailor sessions.

Food Tech Instructor

£140-£160 per day (PAYE, Paid weekly)

An Ofsted rated "outstanding" and inclusive specialist school in Kingsbury, a short walk from Kingsbury station, is looking for a passionate and dedicated Food Tech Instructor to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in Food Technology, catering, cooking or practical food education who is passionate about supporting young people with SEND and helping them develop valuable life and independence skills.

About the role

You will be planning and delivering engaging, practical and accessible Food Technology sessions for pupils aged 5-19 with a wide range of SEND needs, including moderate to complex needs.

The role will involve supporting pupils to develop practical skills in food preparation, cooking, food hygiene and nutrition, whilst also helping them build confidence, independence and teamwork. Lessons will be adapted around individual pupils' needs, learning styles and EHCP outcomes.

There is also a strong Preparation for Adulthood focus, particularly for Post-16 learners. This includes developing skills around independent cooking, budgeting, healthy living and home management, as well as supporting vocational and enterprise-based learning such as running a café or preparing food for school events.

You will work closely with class teachers, therapists and the wider Post-16 team to ensure Food Tech sessions are meaningful, engaging and linked to each pupil's individual development.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience delivering practical food or cooking lessons.
• Hold Food Safety Level 2 or 3.
• Have a strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety.
• Be passionate about inclusive education and helping young people develop independence.
• Be confident planning and adapting practical activities to meet different learning needs.
• Have strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Have good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ideally have previous experience working within a SEND or SEMH setting.
• Experience with vocational qualifications such as OCR, ASDAN or BTEC would be advantageous.
• A teaching or curriculum delivery qualification, such as Level 3 Education & Training, would also be desirable.
