Job description

You will be required to work as a key member of the Ward Team to develop and maintain the patient environment. Your responsibilities include providing high-quality, courteous beverage and meal service to meet patient needs, as well as carrying out cleaning and related duties to support hotel services.

Customer Care & Communication

Work collaboratively as part of a team, communicating politely and positively with colleagues, Trust staff, patients, and the public. Handle initial customer complaints and demonstrate commitment to the department and the Trust. Guide new staff regarding department/ward layout and routines.

Catering

Assist in preparing patient food services, ensuring all food is prepared safely and hygienically. Main tasks include:

  1. Collect, wash, refill, and distribute patient water jugs and glasses.
  2. Assist with meal production for patient service.
  3. Regenerate food following Food Hygiene Codes of Practice.
  4. Plate and assemble patient meals accurately for presentation.
  5. Check and record food temperatures prior to service.
  6. Cater for patients with special diets.
  7. Monitor and report meal wastage levels.
  8. Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages throughout the day.
  9. Serve snacks to patients between meals or as instructed.
  10. Collect used cutlery and crockery after meals.
  11. Wash and store crockery and cutlery appropriately.
  12. Adhere to legislation and policies related to meal service.
  13. Maintain ward kitchens and equipment cleanliness.
  14. Manage stock control and rotation.
  15. Ensure attractive meal presentation and meet specific requests.

Cleaning

Provide comprehensive cleaning services within the hospital, planning workload independently in accordance with work schedules and activity levels.
