Job summary

Luminate Education Group is seeking a Food Service Assistant to join our Printworks Campus catering team. You will help with food prep, serve meals, maintain high hygiene standards and deliver friendly, efficient service to students, staff and visitors.

This 32.5-hour-per-week role runs over 37 weeks with an annual salary of £19,731 (hourly £13.45). A Level 2 food hygiene certificate is preferred and full training is provided.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or be willing to work toward it.
• Knowledge of catering and hospitality practices, including food hygiene and maintaining records.
• Experience in a busy customer-focused environment, including tills and cash/card handling.
• Strong communication and teamwork, with customer service and upsell initiative.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef Manager in food preparation.
• Stock and clean food display.
• Operate an EPOS till.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across café and cooking areas.
• Ensure food safety and complete due diligence records.
• Work across any College outlets as required.
• Support safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

About the Role

32.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday and includes 2 shifts on Tuesday & Thursday evenings working until 7pm)

You will assist with food preparation, serving meals, maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness, and ensuring a welcoming and efficient service for all customers.

*Actual annual salary for 32.5 hours, over 37 weeks will be £19,731 per annum & the hourly rate is £13.45 per hour.

What You Will Do

Assist the Chef Manager in food preparation.

Stock & clean food display

Use of an EPOS till.

Maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene in all areas of the café and cooking areas, including washing up and cleaning of equipment.

Ensure food safety requirements are adhered to at all times and all due diligence records are completed accurately.

Be prepared to work within any of the Colleges outlets.

Responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

About You

Hold a level 2 food hygiene certificate or be willing to work toward getting it

• Knowledge of catering and hospitality practices, including food hygiene procedures and maintaining accurate records.
• Experience working in a busy customer-focused environment, including operating tills and handling cash and card transactions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to use initiative, provide excellent customer service, and identify opportunities to promote products and services.
