Job Description: Food Service Assistant

Location: Holyport

Contract Details:

Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £13.00 per hour
Hours: 18 per week

About the School:

A co-educational day and boarding school for students aged 11 to 19 in Holyport, Berkshire, catering for 700 students and staff daily. The role involves core feeding services and hospitality during term time plus Easter and summer school. The operation runs 7 days a week, with a working pattern of 5 days out of 7. Free on-site parking is available.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Food Service Assistant to join our team at our prestigious Holyport location.

Working Days and Hours:

Saturdays and Sundays, 9:00 am - 6:30 pm, during term time.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare food for service, adhering to hygiene and safety standards.
2. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and related areas to specified standards.
3. Clear, clean, and store food, beverages, and equipment for special functions.
4. Restock supplies during service to ensure smooth operation.
5. Operate cleaning and dishwashing equipment properly.
6. Perform cleaning and hygiene duties as required.
7. Interact professionally with customers and staff.

General Responsibilities:

1. Attend staff meetings as required.
2. Follow all policies and procedures, complying with legislation and company standards.
3. Wear a clean, appropriate uniform at all times.
4. Conduct food temperature checks and other safety checks.
5. Respond to management requests promptly.
6. Report hazards and promote health and safety.
7. Demonstrate personal skills such as teamwork, communication, and hygiene.
8. Be flexible, reliable, honest, and eager to learn new skills.
9. Manage moderate lifting, carrying, and pushing tasks.

Knowledge and Skills:

1. Good understanding of verbal and written English.
2. Experience in customer service or food preparation preferred.
