This exciting Food Scientist position is dedicated to our new and growing appetiser range! In this role you will lead product development activities for the category to deliver projects from conception to commercial production.

• Project manage 'right first time' end to end product and packaging delivery and ongoing quality standards.
• Navigate numerous stakeholders, internally and externally, calling on your strong influencing skills to deliver outcomes.
• Work with marketing, insights & sensory UX team to leverage consumers insights and deliver products that meet brand values.
• Present innovation concepts to key customers, ensuring products are fit for purpose and meet the customers needs.
• Monitor business and food industry trends, sharing relevant insights with project teams to guide consumer-focused product development.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, bringing outside-in thinking into proactive product development that accelerates ANZ innovation pipeline development.
• Build relationships with your stakeholders in R&D (both locally and overseas), McCain, and externally.

About the team.

This role reports to the R&D Manager, and can be based in either Melbourne or Ballarat with frequent travel between the two locations.

About you.

• Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Food Science or other related Science disciplines.
• 2 - 5 years of technical and professional research & development experience in consumer goods, preferably in food.
• General knowledge of manufacturing processes and experience of working in this environment.
• Deep knowledge of food safety and HACCP processes.
• Experience with relevant Acts / Legal Requirements and Standards (e.g. Food Manufacturing Standards, FSANZ) and incorporating into product design.
• Curious about trends, ingredients and new food product introductions, with the ability to interpret consumer research data and apply to product development.
• Exceptional planning and organising skills paired with effective interpersonal skills.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with an ability to foster good stakeholder relations.
