Food Safety Technologist - Manchester Stores

Location: Manchester

As a Food Safety Technologist, you will provide guidance and advice across the business related to Food Safety, ensuring compliance with safety and legislation protocols that prioritize customer safety and align with the company's success.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Ensuring compliance with UK food regulations across all food areas at Selfridges.
  2. Ensuring products sold comply with allergen legislation and allergen management protocols.
  3. Delivering training sessions to various stakeholders within the business.
  4. Investigating food complaints following established procedures.
  5. Maintaining quality assurance with suppliers and fostering effective relationships with the B&M teams.
  6. Implementing and managing an effective pest control program.
  7. Maintaining a micro sampling schedule.
  8. Collaborating with suppliers, restaurant and retail operations, buying, and merchandising to resolve product queries.
  9. Ensuring effective communication among stakeholders to maintain Food Safety compliance.
  10. Supporting sustainability targets through robust supplier assurance.

Qualifications and skills required include:

  1. A passion for Food Safety and Quality across diverse products and business areas.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  4. Strong sense of ownership and adaptability.
  5. Problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internal systems.
  7. Intermediate Food Hygiene Level 3 HACCP (preferred but not essential).
  8. Experience in maintaining hygiene standards.
  9. Knowledge of food composition and nutrition.
  10. Demonstration of company values as a trusted and respected colleague.
