Qualifications

Job description

A client within the Public Sector based inLincolnshire is currently recruiting for aFood Safety Officer to join their Regulation team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a regulatory enforcement environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to work as part of a team to deliver operational and enforcement activities as detailed in the Council’s service plans and outcome framework, including inspections, investigations and enforcement across food hygiene, standards, health and safety, public health, and port health functions.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Enforce Food Hygiene and Standards, Health & Safety, Public Health and Port Health legislation.
  • Inspect food manufacturing, storage, distribution and retail premises, including vessels, to meet statutory duties.
  • Investigate incidents such as food poisoning outbreaks, workplace accidents and occupational health concerns.
  • Prepare inspection reports, legal notices and prosecution case files, and present evidence in court.
  • Undertake sampling and analysis of food and products, taking enforcement action where required.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
  • Environmental Health Officer accreditation by the Environmental Health Registration Board, or
  • Higher Certificate in Food Control with extensive food regulatory control experience (equivalent to NQF Level 5/Degree).

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
  • Strong knowledge of statutory and regulatory frameworks in food, health & safety and public health.
  • Proven ability to investigate incidents, collect evidence, and undertake enforcement action.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including conflict resolution.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £35 per hour PAYE).
