Role Description:

The Food Safety Manager role in Bradford is a new opportunity within our operations team. Bradford hosts our largest UK soft drinks production site.

Due to the site's scale and complexity, this role requires strong leadership in Operations and Technical areas.

The Role includes:

  1. Managing governance requirements concerning Food Safety on the site.
  2. Building strong relationships within site technical and operations teams.
  3. Ensuring compliance with HACCP, technical strategy, audit management, and site governance.
  4. Deputizing for the Site Technical Manager and supporting technical strategy implementation.
  5. Supporting site delivery to ensure quality, legal compliance, food safety, and brand integrity.
  6. Leading audit processes and managing third-party and EHO audits.
  7. Managing risk assessments to meet BRC standards, allergen, claims, and adulteration requirements.
  8. Driving continuous improvement in food safety standards and developing strategic initiatives.
  9. Collaborating to maintain and improve the site quality system according to policies and standards.
  10. Facilitating HACCP practices, audits, and verifications.

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Leading quality management systems and audit processes.
  2. Defining process validation parameters, especially for pasteurization systems.
  3. Ensuring robust HACCP risk assessments and process controls.
  4. Managing testing regimes for product verification and claims.
  5. Collaborating with QA and NPD teams to monitor and improve product quality.
  6. Managing calibration systems for monitoring equipment.
  7. Conducting microbiological and GMP audits.
  8. Managing team development, training, and workload.
  9. Sharing best practices across the Princes Group.
  10. Monitoring and reviewing testing regimes for raw materials and finished products.

Additional Sector-Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Leading microbiological and chemical monitoring programs, including CLAS accreditation.
  2. Managing laboratory teams and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
  3. Reviewing HACCP validation and operational parameters.
  4. Managing authenticity testing and supplier management.
  5. Overseeing calibration and validation of pasteurization equipment.
  6. Leading laboratory duties and third-party audits.
  7. Training and developing analysts, managing investigations.
  8. Leading thermal protocols, validation, and heat distribution requirements.
  9. Working with the Hygiene Manager on investigations and continuous improvement.
  10. Carrying out other tasks as assigned, with flexibility.

Role Requirements:

  1. Experience in managing high-performing teams.
  2. Degree or postgraduate qualification in science or food technology.
  3. Experience managing customer technical relationships in the UK retail sector.
  4. Technical expertise across food manufacturing operations.
  5. Senior technical management experience across food supply chains.
  6. Knowledge of UK retailer codes of practice.
  7. Level 4 HACCP and lead auditor qualifications.
  8. Project management skills and knowledge of third-party audits like BRC, IFS, etc.

To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity, and Quality by adhering to policies and procedures.
