Osborne Richardson is recruiting inspectors to support Birmingham City Council with a programme of premises inspections. You will inspect unrated new businesses and some Cat C, D and E sites, performing hygiene and standards inspections with risk rating duties.

The role offers flexible scheduling including weekends and evenings. You will be paid per inspection at rates of £85 for Cat C, £80 for Cat D and £73 for Cat E, with a target end date of March 2027.

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting on behalf of a Local Authority.
• Evidence of competency in inspections.
• Qualified to carry out both hygiene and standards inspections.

Responsabilités

• Complete full premises inspections and associated paperwork.
• Return paperwork to the client and await communication of risk ratings.
• Be available for weekend and evening work; provide period- by-period availability.

Earlier this year we secured a 4-year inspection contract with Birmingham City Council.

We have a team of inspectors currently delivering a programme of around 1100 inspections and we have been asked to add further members due to an increase in workload.

We have scope to add at least 3-4 inspectors and your task will largely be focused on inspecting Unrated new businesses but there will also be some Cat C, D and E businesses. Most require a combined hygiene / standards inspection and you will be required to risk rate for both.

Delivering the work is very straight forward, you will simply be asked to complete a full premises inspection and associated paperwork. You will return paperwork to the client and they will write to the business to advise of risk ratings.

The work programme is very flexible and allows for weekend and evening work. We will simply ask you to specify your availability for a given period and an estimate of how many inspections you can complete, we will then allocate accordingly. At this exact time we are not expecting commitment for the full contract duration, we are planning for the rest of the financial year to end of March 2027.

The work will be paid on a unit basis for each inspection completed with rates as below:

• £85 Cat C
• £80 Cat D
• £73 Cat E

We need those with experience inspecting on behalf of a Local Authority. You will need to provide evidence of your competency. You will need to be qualified to carry out both hygiene and standards inspections.

You can work via a limited company or umbrella.
