Location: Field based with extensive National travel

Purpose Of The Role

Are you a passionate and meticulous food safety champion eager to make a real impact? We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Food Safety Development Officer to play a crucial role in upholding our commitment to our guests and our team.

In this key role, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring compliance with all food safety legislation, proactively shaping and maintaining a culture of safety and hygiene. You'll be empowered to conduct thorough inspections, implement robust food safety programs, and empower our team members through comprehensive training to ensure a safe working environment.

Required Skills And Key Performance Indicators

  • Food Safety Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Inspection and Auditing: Ability to conduct thorough inspections and audits.
  • Training and Education: Ability to train staff on food safety procedures.
  • Record Keeping: Meticulous record keeping and documentation skills
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify and resolve food safety issues.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct regular & planned inspections of food handling, preparation, and storage areas to ensure compliance to our food safety management system across all hotels.
  • Support hotels with action plans and proactive advice, coaching and training in line with audit findings & visit outcomes.
  • Conduct food supplier audits
  • Supply chain and operational allergy management.
  • Develop and implement the food safety management system, in line with legislation and company developments.
  • Promote positive food safety culture through working collaboratively with hotels and key stakeholders.
  • Support all hotels with a specific focus on challenged food operations
  • Support the delivery of induction training for GM’s / Head Chefs & Sous Chefs on all elements of food safety - Village policy and legal compliance.
  • Ensure all staff are trained on food safety procedures through on-line & practical training resources.
  • Investigate and monitor food safety non-compliance and incidents.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in food safety regulations and industry best practices and update policy accordingly.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and enforce food safety policies

Personal specification

We are looking for an individual who is driven, and can demonstrate:

  • A Degree or HNC level education in a Food Science based subject
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years experience working in a technical based food safety role
  • Proven experience in investigations and internal audits with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and training abilities
  • Proven experience of decision making, taking the initiative and report writing
  • A result focused approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others
  • The ability to process new information quickly and react positively to new challenges
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
