Overview

Food Safety Development Officer – Hotel Group

Location: Nationwide (with extensive field-based travel)

Salary: Up to £50,000 + Bonus and Car Allowance

Are you someone who lives and breathes food safety? We’re looking for a Food Safety Development Officer to join an amazing hotel group and play a pivotal role in ensuring the operations teams on-site maintain the highest standards of hygiene and compliance.

In this role, you’ll be the guardian of safe food practices across multiple sites nationwide, helping teams deliver excellence every day. You’ll combine technical expertise with hands-on training, coaching, and auditing to make sure guests and colleagues are always protected.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of food handling, preparation, and storage areas across multiple sites to ensure compliance with the food safety management system.
  • Support sites with action plans, proactive advice, coaching, and training in line with audit findings.
  • Conduct food supplier audits and manage operational allergy procedures.
  • Develop and implement the food safety management system in line with legislation and company standards.
  • Promote a positive food safety culture through collaboration with site teams and stakeholders.
  • Support challenging food operations and provide induction training for key staff including GMs, Head Chefs, and Sous Chefs.
  • Ensure all staff are trained in food safety procedures via online and practical training resources.
  • Investigate and monitor food safety non-compliance and incidents.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in food safety regulations and industry best practices, updating policies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and enforce food safety policies.
Requirements
  • 1–2 years’ experience in a technical food safety role.
  • Proven experience in investigations and internal audits with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, training, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and ability to take initiative.
  • Results-focused with the ability to influence and work collaboratively.
  • Able to process new information quickly and respond positively to challenges.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to drive and be flexible to travel nationwide to the hotels.
