Job summary

Westray Recruitment Consultants Ltd is supporting a food manufacturing client in Gateshead to recruit an experienced Food Production Operator. You will follow SOPs, perform safe machine changeovers and monitor yields, stock, and ingredients to optimise production while minimising waste.

Role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work shifts across days and nights. English literacy and an in-house test are required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in food or FMCG production environments.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive and reliable approach to work, with a strong focus on teamwork and communication.
• Able to work shifts
• Must be able to read/write and understand English – pass an inhouse English test

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs to ensure products are manufactured to the specifications outlined in documented standards.
• Ensure safe and efficient machine changeovers.
• Monitor and controlling yields, stock, and ingredients within your work area to optimise production and minimise waste.
• Maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, and efficiency throughout all tasks.
• Package finished food products according to specified packaging standards.
• Label and seal packaging correctly to prevent contamination and ensure traceability.
• Inspect the products for defects
