Job description

As a Food Donation Courier across Hammersmith and Fulham, you’ll be supporting weekly food donation collections, helping to provide food for young people in service and support the staff. The Supported Housing team organise food donations with local charities, supermarkets, bakeries and other agencies and it will be your responsibility to collect the donations for the service. We require somebody who can be available weekday afternoons only. Being able to drive and have access to a car are essential requirements for this role.

CORE TASKS

  • To collect and transport donations of food from a local food redistribution charity to our Hammersmith service
  • Possibility of future collections from other local shops
  • Commitment to make agreed collections to sustain offers of donations to Centrepoint young people

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

ESSENTIAL

  • Hold a current clean UK driving licence
  • Have access to a vehicle with up to date MOT and appropriate insurance
  • Have a vehicle that is ULEZ compliant
  • Meet the requirements and arrangements of donating organisations (afternoons or early evening/closing time)
  • Be reliable and have good time management skills
  • Work cooperatively with other staff and volunteers
  • Represent Centrepoint whilst interacting with external organisations
  • Ability to communicate confidently and clearly with young people, other volunteers, staff, and external organisations

DESIRABLE

  • Ability to remain calm when involved with challenging individuals and situations
  • A commitment to demonstrating Centrepoint’s values
  • Understanding of the issues – practical and emotional – facing young people
