The role:

1. As Food Buyer, you will manage a designated group of food categories and be responsible for delivering long-term profitability along with meeting budgeted income and terms agreements.
2. You will negotiate with the supply base to ensure the lowest cost prices and most cost-effective routes to market.
3. Working with the category and NPD teams, you will deliver range and NPD opportunities that contribute to the company's strategic goals.
4. You will collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure suppliers deliver SLA’s and meet customer demand.
5. You will lead and manage the category review process, recommend cost-saving initiatives, and present pricing and market analysis with recommendations.
6. Applicants should currently be working in a food buying role within food retail, wholesale, hospitality, or foodservice.
7. You should demonstrate a passion for trading, commerciality, and negotiation skills.
8. Excellent influencing and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to build internal and external relationships.
9. Hands-on buying experience and direct negotiation with suppliers using various tactics and styles are required.
10. You must be a team player with excellent communication skills.
11. Strong data analysis skills and the ability to act on opportunities to drive profit are necessary.
12. Good planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently, are important. A self-starter with a can-do attitude will thrive here.
13. You should be personable, caring, ambitious, and driven.
