Job summary

Gonville Hotel Cambridge is seeking a Food & Beverage Assistant to join our talented team. You will work closely with the F&B leadership to ensure guest satisfaction and smooth service in a part-time capacity.

Responsibilities include preparing beverages, setting tables, handling orders, maintaining cleanliness, and communicating menu details and guest needs with the team. A welcoming, flexible approach is essential.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and serving beverages requested by guests.
• Ensuring tables are set and ready for guests.
• Taking and delivering guests' orders promptly.
• Maintaining high cleanliness standards in Food & Beverage outlets.
• Having good knowledge of the food and beverage menu.
• Answering guests' questions about menu, wait times and availability.
• Communicating guest needs and special requests with F&B and Kitchen teams.

Gonville Hotel is a four-star hotel situated in the heart of Cambridge, overlooking the historic Parker's Piece. Being located centrally makes Gonville Hotel the perfect base for a stay in the city, attracting both holidaymakers and businesspeople.

We are currently looking for a Food & Beverage Assistant to join our Truly Talented team.

Your role

You will work closely with the food and beverage leadership team in a supportive and flexible manner, focusing on the overall success of the Hotel and the satisfaction of guests.

Responsibilities of Food & Beverage Assistant will include but are not limited to:

• Preparing and serving any beverages requested by guests;
• Ensuring that all tables are set and ready for welcoming guests at all times;
• Ensuring that all guests’ orders are taken and executed in a timely manner;
• Ensuring that cleanliness is kept at the highest standards at all times in the Food & Beverage Outlets;
• Having good knowledge of the food and beverage menu;
• Responding to guests’ queries on the menu selection;
• Communicating any guests’ questions on the menu, the length of wait and product availability with the Food & Beverage and Kitchen teams, as well as any additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the teams accordingly.

The ideal person for this role will be enthusiastic about change, focused on details and trusting.

The Core Skills And Experience Required To Succeed

• Truly passionate about the Hospitality Industry;
• Previous restaurant or bar experience in a busy environment is preferred but not essential;
• Excellent personal presentation;
• Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety procedures;
• Ability to function independently with a minimum of supervision;
• Excellent communication skills, the ability to communicate verbally and in writing ;
• To be an enthusiastic team player with a flexible approach.

You must have the right to work in the UK to be eligible for this role. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from all candidates prior to commencing employment.
