INTERNAL JOB – this vacancy is only available to Torfaen County Borough Council employees and agency workers currently engaged with the council.

The Inspire and Youth Engagement project in Torfaen County Borough Council has been given permission to create the new Inspire Café at the Civic Centre in Pontypool. This will act as both a service for Council employees and Councillors, and Council visitors, and will provide an opportunity to train young people in catering and customer service to support the running of the café.

We have secured funding initially until March 31st 2025 to create a new post to support the running of the café and the production of food, and to help take responsibility for supporting targeted young people from the Inspire Project as trainees and on work experience.

We are looking for a highly organised, enthusiastic, and motivated person with appropriate experience in cooking and working within a kitchen/café environment and also with the skills and commitment to support young people, to join the Inspire and Youth Engagement and Progression team.

As the successful candidate, you will assist in all areas of the kitchen to achieve the required standards, including food preparation, serving meals and snacks, and ensuring the café meets Food Safety and Hygiene Regulations.

Qualifications / Experience:
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Appropriate and recent experience in a catering environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to lead on activities as required
