Job summary

Compass Group UK&I through ESS is hiring a Retail Supervisor in the Defence, Government and Energy services sector. The role supports 250+ UK establishments, ensures smooth daily operations, and supervises frontline staff in a high-standard service environment.

You will work Mon-Fri days in a full-time capacity (37.5 hours per week) within a defence-related site, contributing to store management, stock control, and customer-focused service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Ensure deliveries are checked and stored promptly and correctly.

• Assist with weekly bookwork and other duties as needed.
• Produce weekly rotas following manager guidelines.
• Place stock orders to maintain stock levels.
• Adhere to Food Handling, Hygiene and Health & Safety standards.

We're currently recruiting a dedicated Retail Supervisor to help ensure the smooth running of the operations in Defence on a full time basis, contracted to 37.5 hours per week.

Your Key Responsibilities May Include

• Ensuring all deliveries are checked and stored promptly and correctly
• Supervising a team, creating a positive environment where the team feel welcomed and supported
• Being a responsible key holder
• Using the till, taking order and receiving payments
• Assisting with weekly bookwork and any other duties that are necessary
• Producing weekly rotas following the manager's guidelines
• Placing orders for stock to maintain the correct stock levels
• Delegating where necessary and ensuring the team are proactive at all times
• Complying with Food Handling & Hygiene standards
• Complying with Health & Safety regulations

Our Ideal Retail Supervisor Will

• Previous experience supervising frontline teams within a similar environment
• Good communication skills with a focus on great Customer Service
• Team player and can-do attitude
• Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a positive attitude
