Ward Security is recruiting a highly motivated Security Officer for a premium corporate building in Canary Wharf, London. You will be the friendly, professional first point of contact, patrolling, controlling access, monitoring CCTV and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Security Patrols across designated areas to deter crime and protect people and assets.
• Access Control: manage entry with ID checks for authorised individuals.
• CCTV and alarm monitoring; respond promptly to alerts.
• Visitor Management: welcome, direct and escort visitors as needed.
• Incident Reporting: identify, report incidents and health and safety concerns.
• Security Searches: conduct searches professionally and respectfully.
• Emergency Response: act confidently and contact authorities when required.
• Building Security: perform locking/unlocking duties per client requirements.
• Customer Service: be the first point of contact for staff, visitors and contractors.
• Record Keeping: maintain logs of visits, incidents and patrols.
• Teamwork: collaborate to uphold high security and service standards.

Ward Security is recruiting a highly motivated and professional Security Officer to join our team at a recently refurbished, high-quality corporate building in the heart of Canary Wharf. Set alongside landscaped parkland, with impressive views across the surrounding docklands, this modern workplace offers a premium environment with excellent facilities and strong transport connections. You’ll be part of a front-facing security team responsible for protecting the building, supporting its occupiers and visitors, and delivering an exceptional level of service.

Location: London, E14 5NY
Nearest tube: Canary Wharf
Pay Rate: £15.56 per hour
Shift Pattern: 3 days, 3 nights, 3 off – 56 hours per week
Requirements: Valid Door Supervisor SIA Licence and CCTV Licence

About the Role

As a Security Officer, you’ll play an important role in creating a safe, secure and welcoming environment for the client, their employees and visitors. You’ll be visible, approachable and proactive, helping to prevent incidents while responding confidently and professionally when they arise.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Security Patrols: Carry out regular foot patrols across designated areas, helping to deter crime and protect the client’s people, property and assets.
• Access Control: Manage access to the premises, checking identification and documentation to ensure only authorised individuals are granted entry.
• CCTV and Alarm Monitoring: Monitor CCTV and alarm systems, where provided, and respond promptly and appropriately to alerts or concerns.
• Visitor Management: Welcome and assist visitors, provide directions and escort individuals to their destinations when required.
• Incident Reporting: Identify and report suspicious activity, security breaches, criminal activity and health and safety concerns, ensuring accurate and timely reports are completed.
• Security Searches: Carry out searches professionally and respectfully, in line with company and client procedures.
• Emergency Response: Respond confidently to security incidents, take appropriate action and escape matters to the relevant authorities when required.
• Building Security: Complete locking and unlocking duties, securing doors and designated areas in accordance with client requirements.
• Customer Service: Act as a professional first point of contact for employees, visitors and contractors, providing information and assistance in a helpful and approachable manner.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records and logs, including visitor movements, incidents, patrols and other information required by the client.
• Teamwork: Work closely with colleagues to maintain high standards of customer service, professionalism and integrity at all times.

What we’re looking for?

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• A minimum of five years' checkable employment, education and/or unemployment history in line with BS7858 vetting requirements.
• A valid Door Supervisor SIA Licence and CCTV Licence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with people at all levels.
• Strong observation skills, with the ability to identify, respond to and accurately record incidents and relevant information.
