Skillnet is offering a Vehicle Damage Panel Technician Apprenticeship in Scunthorpe. You will learn to repair and replace damaged panels using approved techniques (gas, electric and plastic welding) and gain hands-on experience with body jigs and tooling.

The programme includes training in estimating awareness for workshop profitability and leads to a Level 3 Standard qualification upon completion. A full-time automotive career path with progression opportunities awaits.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Standard qualification awarded on completion.
• Minimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent (A*-C or 9-4 preferable).
• Full training provided; no prior skills required.

Vehicle Damage Panel Technician Apprentices are trained to repair and replace damaged panels using approved techniques, including gas, electric and plastic welding up to B.S.I certification, whilst also gaining knowledge and experience repairing damaged vehicles using specialist body jigs and tooling.

In addition, the Apprentice will develop skills/awareness of estimating, an essential function for a body shop’s profitability.

• Dipping and spraying – spray painting involves operating a spray gun and other machinery
• Using formulas to mix the paint that goes into the spray gun
• Adjusting the flow and viscosity of their paint and control the air pressure to the spray gun by adjusting the nozzle
• Other job duties include properly disposing of hazardous waste, following colour charts and removing rust
• Paint technicians must disassemble, clean and reassemble their painting equipment

On completion of this course you will receive a Level 3 Standard qualification
