Job summary

Parkside Recruitment is seeking an experienced Assistant Trading Manager for a 7-month contract in the FMCG/retail sector. You will develop and deliver trading and category strategies across a national product range, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to maximise profitability and drive growth.

Ideal candidates have proven FMCG buying/trading/category experience, strong negotiation, budgeting and analytical skills, and the ability to present to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience within FMCG buying, trading or category management.
• Strong supplier negotiation skills with a track record of delivering commercial results.
• Experience managing product ranges, budgets and promotional activity.
• Strong analytical and commercial skills.
• Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders.
• Experience managing or developing people.
• Retail or wholesale FMCG experience preferred (BWS).

Responsibilities

• Developing and delivering category and trading strategies.
• Managing and negotiating supplier relationships, costs and commercial terms.
• Managing trading budgets and maximising income and profitability.
• Analysing market trends, competitor activity and commercial data to identify opportunities.
• Developing and delivering promotional plans with suppliers and internal teams.
• Managing product availability and resolving supply or product issues.
• Working closely with multiple stakeholders across the business.
• Managing, coaching and developing a Trading Assistant.
• Supporting projects and identifying opportunities to improve trading performance.
