We're recruiting experienced Project Managers to own and manage the organisation and delivery of Serco's capital project works and key client instructed projects on a national UK basis. You'll take ownership of delivering multiple mechanical, electrical, and refurbishment projects across the UK, managing them from conception to completion. You'll coordinate resources, manage budgets, engage stakeholders, and ensure projects meet time, cost, and quality targets—all with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate internal and external resources, work closely with establishment's FM's and Operational teams, Procurement, and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
- Assist in the development of project briefs, scopes, and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical and commercial feasibility.
- Engage with manufacturers and suppliers to develop specifications that meet contractual and client requirements, aligned with industry and client-specific standards.
- Support the preparation of documentation for project tendering, evaluate tender returns with PMO and procurement, establish value, and oversee supplier appointments.
- Ensure quality assurance of project scope and specifications, applying commercial acumen, estimating, and QS knowledge/experience where applicable.
- Manage resource availability and allocation, including professional services.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans to track progress from start to finish.
- Produce monthly CVR reports for each project and ensure site project forecasting is updated for budgeting.
- Manage changes in project scope, schedules, and costs using verification techniques.
- Measure and manage project performance using appropriate systems and tools.
- Report and escalate relevant issues to senior management.
- Maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders, effectively communicating key information and influencing decisions.
- Perform risk management to minimize project and business risks.
- Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Manage financial and commercial aspects of projects, including budgets, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Participate in site visits with contractors and consultants.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Conduct project-specific site inductions for stakeholders, especially supply chain partners.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience managing multiple technical projects in the built environment.
- Experience in a custodial environment is beneficial.
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of project management in the built environment.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
- Degree-level technical background (preferably Electrical and/or Mechanical).
- PRINCE 2 certification.
- IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
- SMSTS / CSCS skilled card holder, Disability Confident.
Additional Information:
This is a home-based role with regular national travel. The position is permanent and full-time, with a salary up to £55,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
