BAM FM is recruiting a Building Technician to work alongside a team of specialised technicians based out of Derbyshire Police Headquarters, providing a comprehensive service delivery plan for our client. The position involves working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, with a flexible shift pattern. This role requires police vetting prior to start.

Your mission

The Building Technician will be responsible for the building fabric status of the site, carrying out planned maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks across the site.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in building fault finding
  • Perform ceiling repairs, painting, skirting and facing replacement, door servicing, and refurbishment of FF&E equipment
  • Read, understand, and diagnose building faults using existing experience to identify failures in cladding and interface junctions between building fabric elements
  • Identify and order spare parts for repairs through appropriate channels
  • Carry out water hygiene testing (training provided)
  • Conduct fire door inspections (training provided)
  • Install, service, and repair FF&E appliances following manufacturers' guidelines
  • Inspect and perform reactive landscape maintenance, including litter picking
  • Inspect building fabric and troubleshoot faults
  • Supervise and liaise with subcontractors regarding method statements, risk assessments, and safe work execution
  • Monitor and order stock for related items
  • Read and interpret contract documentation, including as-built drawings, schedules, and specifications

  • Full driving licence
  • Reliable, with good attendance and performance
  • Basic plumbing, mechanical, and electrical skills are advantageous
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Initiative in daily duties
  • Assist with site services and porterage duties
  • Support health and safety responsibilities
  • Operate heating, fire alarm, and lighting systems
  • Check and secure windows, doors, gates, fences
  • Record utility meter readings
  • Perform other reasonable duties as required
