WSP is seeking an Associate Director / Associate / Principal Fluvial Geomorphologist / Hydromorphologist within the Catchment Science team. The focus areas include fluvial geomorphology, Water Framework Directive, natural flood management, nature-based solutions, weir removal, river and catchment enhancement, and biodiversity net gain for watercourses. You will play a key role in delivering our growth strategy, mentoring, and providing technical support to our team. Our team boasts one of the largest pools of specialists in fluvial geomorphology, WFD, and watercourse biodiversity in the UK. We collaborate across various disciplines and sectors, including low carbon, transport, water renewables, habitat restoration, nuclear, power, waste, minerals, and property. Our services include freshwater, transitional, and coastal geomorphology, with a focus on BNG and NbS, river restoration, and sustainable river management.
We seek candidates with excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and proven expertise in fluvial geomorphology and WFD. Essential qualifications include a relevant degree, experience in project and team management, and knowledge of UK and European water legislation. Specialist knowledge in river design, sediment analysis, GIS, BNG RCA, and WFD assessments is advantageous. Membership in professional bodies like CIWEM, CIEEM, or RGS is preferred, with support for chartership.
