FLT Counterbalance Driver/Chemical Operator

DBR Group, acting as a Recruitment Agency, is recruiting an experienced Chemical Operator with a FLT Counterbalance to work at our client, a household name in the Chemical Industry, based in Irlam, Manchester.

Our client has been established for over 50 years, setting standards in high-quality products and services for the chemical industry. They are a leading UK chemical manufacturer and global distributor of surfactants and specialty industrial chemicals, supplying markets including Personal Care, Household & Institutional Cleaning, Energy Extraction, Agriculture, Lubricants, Metal Working, and Coatings.

Job brief

Working for a well-established company in Irlam, Manchester, you will serve as a Chemical Operator with a FLT Counterbalance on a permanent basis. Your responsibilities include ensuring materials entering and leaving the site are correct, safe, and in good condition, supporting health and safety, and assisting production through material handling and organization.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all goods loaded or unloaded match relevant paperwork promptly.
  • Manage Libra's freight and assets, being the first and last point of contact for materials.
  • Store and rotate stock according to FIFO procedures.
  • Report damaged or missing goods to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy warehouse environment and equipment.
  • Follow COMAH health and safety rules when handling goods.
  • Adhere to operational procedures, rules, and schedules.
  • Handle chemical containers and equipment with care.
Requirements and Skills
  • Strong team-working skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of handling, storing, and labeling hazardous products.
  • Computer literacy (Outlook, EFACS, Excel).
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Commitment to completing tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Detail-oriented and trustworthy.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Counterbalance Forklift Truck License essential.
  • Chemical experience advantageous; training provided.
Remuneration

Basic salary: £25,397 per annum

Shift allowance: £2,700 per annum

Shifts

12-hour shifts, 6 am - 6 pm, rotating weekly:

  • Week 1: 3 nights (Monday-Wednesday)
  • Week 2: 3 days (Wednesday-Friday)
  • Week 3: 2 days (Monday-Tuesday) and 2 nights (Thursday-Friday)
