Job summary

About the role

The Department of Immunology and Inflammation within the Faculty of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated individual with the relevant experience for the post of Flow Cytometry Assistant. The postholder will play a crucial role and will provide technical and administrative support for the Hammersmith Flow Cytometry Facility; including direct responsibility for the day-to-day running and maintenance of complex equipment to ensure a comprehensive, high-quality service to users.

What you would be doing

As Flow Cytometry Assistant, you will be responsible for the co-ordination of the Facility, ensuring that the technical support provided is regularly reviewed in terms of user satisfaction. You will ensure that Facility equipment is maintained in optimum working order through regular calibration and testing and manage service contracts to ensure that machines are adequately covered. You will also provide up-to-date technical expertise, advice and support to a high standard in flow cytometry techniques and data analysis and deliver a high-quality cell-sorting service, as well as training the Facility’s users in flow cytometry acquisition and the use of analysis software.

  • Broad laboratory experience
  • A track record in flow cytometry; state-of-the-art flow cytometry experience
  • Knowledge of flow cytometry analysis, sorting, methods development, software upgrades, instrument trouble-shooting and development
  • Knowledge of handling and analysing complex data

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week).

This role is for a fixed-term contract until 31 st March 2028.
