Job summary

Severn Trent Services in Coventry is recruiting a Flow Compliance Manager to ensure final effluent quality meets regulatory standards and to monitor performance at operational sites. You will drive risk mitigation, lead permit processes, and collaborate with regulators and internal teams to prepare for future permit changes.

The role requires strong wastewater treatment knowledge and the ability to secure MoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on Wastewater permit changes across all Severn Trent Services treatment sites for quality, efficiency and cost.
  • Lead investigations into day-to-day permit performance issues and failures, identifying root causes and mitigating actions with senior support.
  • Develop and implement knowledge of wastewater permit processes; support capital projects, engineering and R&D; deliver small projects.
  • Be the responsible person for MCERT compliance, coordinating with environmental manager and EA as the focal point for the business.
  • Engage with Estates Development Technical Forum, addressing queries between MOD, DIO and our team for Waste Treatment impacts.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As our Flow compliance manager, you will be supporting the business to ensure final effluent quality is compliant with regulatory standards and monitoring performance at our operational sites, to ensure we meet our internal KPIs and contractual agreements.

You will be working proactively and collaboratively to develop measures to address current and future risks. Offering practical guidance and recommendation for reactive events and investigating the root causes to prevent reoccurrence. Managing the relationships with our regulators, local authorities and EA and preparing the business for future regulator and permit changes.

Some Of The Key Accountabilities Of This Role Are
  • Lead on Wastewater permit changes across all Severn Trent Services treatment sites for both quality, efficiency and cost.
  • Lead investigations into day-to-day permit performance issues and failures, to identify the root cause and mitigating actions with support from the Regional Service Delivery Managers. This includes the delivery of actions as well as identifying actions for internal stakeholders to complete.
  • Develop and implement knowledge of Wastewater permit processes and provide technical support to the company on treatment issues. This includes support on capital projects, engineering and R&D projects etc. and delivery of small projects.
  • Be the responsible person for MCERT compliance. Leading in collaborative efforts with the environmental manager and environmental agency becoming to focal point for the business
  • Be an active member of our Estates Development Technical Forum – this includes responding to estate development queries between our company, MOD and DIO contacts and supporting this team with developments which will involve or influence Waste Treatment.
  • Own the relationship with the Environment Agency.
  • Work hand in hand with the Waste/environmental Technical Advisors
  • Provide cover for the Waste, Water, Environmental Tech Leads
What You’ll Bring To The Role

In order to be successful in this role, you will have a strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, including industrial wastewater treatment, and be confident in completing complex permit calculations to optimise compliance and cost performance.

You will possess knowledge of Environment Agency and EU regulations, MCERT self-monitoring requirements, and the STS Lifecycle Investment Programme. Strong stakeholder management, root cause investigation, problem-solving and communication skills are essential, enabling you to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

The role holder will need to be able to secure and retain full MoD (SC) security clearance. (we’ll support you with this)
