Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Flow Lead in The Bay. The post is a full-time, permanent role covering the service over 5 days per week.

The Flow Lead supports safe flow for patients requiring inpatient admission to a mental health ward and works closely with inpatient wards and community teams to support admissions and safe discharge after assessment and treatment. They will have a relationship with the bed hub and support patients to be admitted as close to home as possible. They will also work with mental health services and third sector providers; great communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advisory resource for Bay Locality on matters pertaining to patient flow and capacity.
  • Act as a positive clinical role model through support and expert clinical advice to staff and lead by example through visible leadership to motivate and empower others.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team: Mental Health Nurses; Support Workers; Social Workers; Occupational Therapist; Psychologist and Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • Play an active role in working into the locality and across the Trust system to ensure patients in all parts of the mental health pathway from community to inpatient receive care in the most appropriate place at the most appropriate time.
  • Support patients from The Bay in wards across the footprint and in OAP beds.
  • Support safe flow and admissions/discharges from inpatient wards to appropriate settings.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Great communication skills are essential.
  • Band 7 leadership experience in mental health and experience with patient flow and capacity management (as implied).
