A maintenance contractor is seeking an experienced Floor Layer for a project in Woking, Surrey. The role involves installing cap & cove safety flooring in a Category C Prison. Overview

Floor Layer - Prison Work (Cap & Cove / Safety Flooring)

Location: Woking, Surrey

Rate: £210 - £240 per day

Contract: 2-3 month contract with ongoing work in other prisons

About the role

We're looking for an experienced Floor Layer to join a contractor team working inside a Category C Prison in Woking. You'll be installing cap & cove safety flooring (Altro or similar) using hot welding techniques across kitchens, bathrooms, wet rooms, and communal areas.

All tools and materials provided. Parking on site. Work is stop-start due to security procedures, so patience and flexibility are key.

Key responsibilities
  • Install & repair cap and cove / safety flooring
  • Carry out hot welding for watertight, hygienic seams
  • Subfloor prep - screeding, levelling & making good
  • Remedial repairs to damaged flooring
  • Work with site teams & follow prison security procedures
What you need
  • Proven experience in cap & cove flooring & hot welding
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Floor Covering Occupations OR time-served
  • Flexible, patient approach - able to adapt to delays, lockdowns, and security checks
  • Experience in prisons, healthcare, schools, or other secure/public buildings an advantage
