We are the largest provider of repairs and maintenance, and regeneration services across the UK. Mears provides tailored rapid-response and planned maintenance services through partnerships with over 70 local authorities, Arm’s Length Management Organisations, and Housing Associations.
About the Role:
As a Floor Layer, you will work alongside Dover Council providing a stable and profitable contract, delivering excellent service and support through our local teams, who understand the importance of working together for the community.
Your duties involve a range of flooring tasks, including renewing sheet vinyl, which requires accurate measuring, cutting, and laying without bubbles or wrinkles, and proper seam sealing for durability. When working with tiles, including ceramic, you’ll need to cut tiles precisely, apply mortar or adhesive, and ensure even alignment. Grouting and sealing are essential for a polished finish. Installing cap and cove wet room floors involves creating a seamless, waterproof surface that curves up the walls to prevent water ingress, requiring precise cutting and joint sealing. Preparation tasks include cleaning, repairing, and priming the floor surface to ensure good adhesion. Applying self-levelling compounds or screed involves mixing, pouring, and spreading evenly, and allowing curing. Each task demands knowledge of materials and techniques for a professional, durable finish.
Role Criteria:
All roles require candidates to have entitlement to work in the UK. Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship.
To drive a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held their licence for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points.
All roles are subject to DBS/Security checks before employment begins.
